The homestead is a 62-acre farm located 35 minutes south of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I have been working on turn a portion of the farm into a sustenance and market garden.
Along with the usual food crops, I raise meat birds and rabbits for myself. I raw pack (in a pressure canner) a lot of the meat I raise so that I can save on freezer space. As a bonus, the raw packed meat is fully cooked in the jars, and because they are sealed, they are shelf stable for 18-24 months.
Eventually, I will take some of the produce to the local farmers’ market to generate some income.
There is also a dedicated YouTube channel where I talk about the goings-on of the farm as well as any policy changes that affect farms in Canada.
