Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to Blue Gypsy Homestead, a 62-acre farm located just 35 minutes south of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. What was once a winery is now being transformed into a sustenance and market farm—one project, one season, and sometimes one hard lesson at a time.

Homesteading isn’t always Instagram-worthy. It’s rewarding, frustrating, exciting, exhausting, and often unpredictable. Join me as I share what I’m doing, what I’m planning, and what I’m learning along the way. You’ll see the successes worth celebrating and the failures worth talking about. There will be no sugar-coating—warts and all. What you see is what you get: honest experiences, practical knowledge, and the realities of building a homestead from the ground up.

Whether you’re visiting the website, watching on YouTube, or scrolling through TikTok, you’ll find videos designed to inform and inspire without preaching or pretending there’s only one “right” way to do things. I’ll share practical tips, useful shortcuts, and creative solutions born out of necessity and experience. Around here, we make the most of what we have—repurposing materials already on the homestead, recycling whenever possible, and breathing new life into roadside finds through a little ingenuity and elbow grease. Sometimes the best tools and materials aren’t bought new; they’re rediscovered, reimagined, and put back to work.

During the summer months, you can also find me in person at local farmers’ markets, including the Kemptville Farmers’ Market every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Farmers’ markets are one of my favourite parts of this journey—a chance to connect with the community, answer questions, share stories, and offer the fruits of the homestead’s labour directly to the people who support it.

If you’d like to bring a little piece of Blue Gypsy Homestead home with you, be sure to visit the online store, where you’ll find a selection of products crafted and curated from the homestead.
